| Q: |
What is a proctor/Assistant Test
Administrator? |
| A: |
A proctor/Assistant Test Administrator is the
title given to individuals who would like to help administer the exam to
the examinees. There is a training that is held once a year to help
individuals understand how to be a proctor. However, this training
does not preclude you from becoming a proctor sooner than that. It
is just a good introductory method to being a proctor for the MTEL. |
|
|
| Q: |
If I am a Proctor/Assistant Test
Administrator, will this exclude me from becoming a teacher? |
| A: |
If you would like to be a proctor you must note
that you are excluded from taking the MTEL test for 5 years. There
is an oath that is signed at the beginning of each session that clearly
attest that you will not be taking the test in the next 5 years. |
|
|
| Q: |
If I am a proctor, can I still coach people
on how to take the MTEL test? |
| A: |
If you are currently coaching/teaching people
on how to take the MTEL exam, you should note that once you become a
proctor you will not be able to coach/teach people on how to take the exam
for 5 years. |
|
|
| Q: |
Is being a proctor a paid position? |
| A: |
Yes you will be compensated for your time each
administration. You are hired as a contract individual.
However, you will be required to complete an I-9 & W-2 form so that
appropriate taxes may be withdrawn from your paycheck. |
|
|
| Q: |
If I am not eligible to work in the U.S. can
I still be a proctor? |
| A: |

be able to be a proctor. You must be able to either produce
appropriate documentation showing you can work, or a valid US work
visa. You also must have a valid social security card. |
|
|
| Q: |
Is the test only run at North Quincy High
School? |
| A: |
No, the test is run at various schools

and each test. |

How can I sign up to be a proctor? |
| A: |
You can sign up to be a proctor by completing
the registration tab. This does not guarantee you a position but you
will be put on a list for which ever test you have signed up to be a
proctor. Once the appropriate staffing needs have been determined by
Pearson the Chief Test Administrator will contact the appropriate staff that
is needed. This normally occurs on the week before the test
administration. |
|
|
| Q: |
How long before I get paid for the day? |
| A: |
Approximately 2 weeks to
1 month after the test
administration you will receive a check from Pearson. This will be sent
to the appropriate address you have completed on the night before the test
administration. |
|
|
| Q: |
Where can I find out more information about
when I am getting paid or what are the latest news? |
| A: |
Check the "PROCTORS" section and you
will be able to see the most recent news information about spaces for next
administrations, and current status of payments. |
